
Chianni is a stunning town in the Pisa province of Tuscany that lies about 35 kilometres outside of Pisa city. It is a little Tuscan gem, tucked into a sea of grape vines, chestnut woods and olive trees. Chianni dates back to Etruscan times (800BC) when this site was once the foundation of a Lombard castle. In mid-November, a delicious Wild Boar festival takes place here, attracting tourists and neighbouring townsfolk to taste the wonderful food on show.
There are many shops and stalls open in Chianni all year around where you could gather a delicious lunch of cured wild boar meat, cheeses, olives, fresh bread and other treats to make up a wonderful picnic.
Then why not walk around the outskirts of Chianni and find a perfect spot on the grass to savour your feast as you admire the colourful scenery all around.
