Glasses of Sparkling Wine
Good wine is one of the things, along with good food, that really draws visitors to the region of Tuscany and makes them choose it as a holiday destination. Fall, in particular, is a great season to visit the region if you are a foodie in search of a break full of culinary delights.

It is a season when truffles are found, chestnuts are roasted, porcini and pumpkin make their way into pasta dishes and countless towns and municipalities have food and wine festivals to celebrate their local gastronomies.

We have tracked down some of the best of these wine festivals from around the region so all you need to do is choose one of our amazing vacation rentals in Tuscany and get to trying out some of the most famous and best wines that it has to offer.
Vineyards, Chianti
The famous Tuscan wine region of Chianti is a large area that takes in the provinces of Florence and Siena and is home to Chianti d’Autunno, a festivals that begins in September and runs into December and offers a wide range of different kinds of activities. These activities include tours of wine cellars and vineyards that are not normally open to the public, wine tasting sessions, large markets selling all kinds of food and drinks, hikes through the countryside and special events geared towards children, as well. This festival allows you and your family to enjoy Tuscany's beautiful scenery and pretty towns, get out and have adventures, learn about the local food culture and to try new wines.

Towns such as Greve, Gaiole and Castellina all play host to the events with Greve, in particular, hosting "Non solo vino" (Not only wine) on the 9th of October. This is a market exhibition with culinary and handicraft stands and taste testing of the local specialties, that explain the history and processes of the food and wine making in the region, as well as allowing you to partake in a little.
Greve-In-Chianti
Sorano, in Maremma, is also home to a local wine festival, called the Festa delle Cantine or "Festival of the Wine cellars", that usually takes place from the end of October to the beginning of November. It involves trying the local wines and exploring the surrounding countryside, particularly areas such as the stunning National Park of Maremma, all while enjoying the relaxed and cosy atmosphere of this part of the world – especially beautiful in the Fall.

For wine-lovers looking to get away from it all this Autumn, there really is no better destination than Tuscany.
