Nestled on the border between Tuscany and Marche, La Colonica is a magnificent historic residence overlooking the lush green valleys of Umbria, in the municipality of Citerna, Italy. This exceptional vacation rental is a warm and welcoming property steeped in centuries of history, with portions of the estate having served as a point of passage between the Papal States and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The history of its expansion unfolds across 4 distinct eras, culminating in a complete renovation in 2012. The panoramic views from the house are truly picturesque, rich in the seasonal colours that adorn the surrounding fields and hills. The property is set within an expansive park of approximately one and a half hectares, offering guests a generous yard that envelops the entire residence with ancient oak trees, garden plants, shrubs, lavender, and viburnum. Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the property, ensuring guests remain connected during their stay. A covered parking area accommodating up to 3 cars is conveniently located directly in front of the property, just outside the gate. La Colonica has been subjected to a check-up by a technical responsible before the beginning of the season, to ensure consistency of the description, accessories listed, and their present state of operation and maintenance, guaranteeing quality, cleanliness, and comfort to all guests.

Outdoors

The outdoor spaces at La Colonica are as impressive as the interior, offering a wealth of recreational and relaxation opportunities set within the beautifully maintained park. The swimming pool is a central feature of the grounds, visible directly from the house and immersed in lush greenery. It is reached either by crossing the park from the house or by descending the stone staircase adjacent to the main gate. Rectangular in shape, the non-heated pool measures 16 x 8 metres with a depth varying from 0.90 metres to 1.80 metres. It is lined in PVC in a grey-black colour, and access to the water is provided via Roman steps. In the shallow section of the pool, it is possible to create a dedicated children's area by closing off this zone with a net. The pool is equipped with whirlpool vents, both external and internal lighting, and a chlorine purification plant. The surrounding solarium area is finished in travertine and lawn and is furnished with a gazebo with sofa, sunbeds, small tables, umbrellas, chairs, armchairs, and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October. At the entrance to the ground floor, a cool gazebo with sofas and armchairs provides an ideal setting for reading and moments of quiet relaxation. For sports enthusiasts, a dedicated playground area is situated a few metres from the entrance gate, shaded by ancient oak trees and illuminated at night. This area includes a private five-a-side football field, a bowling green, table tennis, and table football, making it an excellent space for guests of all ages. Please note that the property photographs were taken in spring; therefore, the blossoming of flowers and the colours of the garden grass may differ at the time of your arrival.

Unit Layout

La Colonica is a generously proportioned residence configured across 3 floors, capable of accommodating up to 18 guests across 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. The ground floor features a double entrance: to the right, access leads to a double bedroom that communicates with a further double bedroom, both with ensuite bathrooms with shower and both offering direct access to the outside. To the left of the entrance, an open-plan area encompasses the kitchen, living room, dining room, and a toilet. Adjacent to these 2 entrances is a dedicated laundry area. The first floor is reached from the outside via a stone staircase leading to the main entrance. This level comprises a lounge and kitchen with access to the sleeping area, which is reached through the corridor to the right of the kitchen. The sleeping area on this floor consists of a twin bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with shower, and 3 double bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms with shower. The second floor is also accessed externally via the stone staircase, which leads up to a second terrace. On the right side of this level is a sitting space. Continuing along the corridor, guests will find a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower, a twin bedroom with joinable beds and an adjacent bathroom with shower, and a double bedroom with divisible beds and an ensuite bathroom with shower.

Guests are kindly reminded that an additional mandatory cleaning fee applies in the case of animals accompanying guests during their stay.
