Villa Spotlight: The Historic And Magical Villa Staggia In Siena

Villa Staggia, terrace

While, of course, there are a range of different Tuscany villas to browse across our websites to suit all sorts of budgets, groups, tastes, preferred locations, desired features and amenities, etc, we cannot help but admire a particular kind of villa: the stunning historic properties plucked directly from our dreams! These incredible gems boast stunning interiors, incredible surroundings and grounds, remarkable characters and histories, and just endless visual appeal. For those who have always wanted to stay in a palace or old manor and get a taste of the lives of ancient nobility, these really are a dream come true!

An example that we have been admiring lately is the extraordinary seven-bedroom and seven-bathroom Villa Staggia, located 13km (8 miles) from Poggibonsi and 24km (15 miles) from Siena in green and leafy private grounds that overlook lush fields and rolling hills so typical of this magical region.

Villa Staggia, exterior

Boasting a grand villa facade with detailed classical sculptural details, a central balcony over the doorway, and charming green shutters on the windows and doors, the immediate impression of the villa is striking and unforgettable. The proud cypresses and manicured grounds framing the property only add to its dignity and elegance.

To the rear of the property, you will find a leafy terrace with pretty iron tables for outdoor dining and a lovely private pool on the lawns with surrounding loungers and parasols and elegant outdoor furniture. There are also lots of little areas with benches set among the trees or positioned in scenic spots for reading in peace or sitting to admire the views, glimpses of those views from different angles and perspectives, and more. In fact, all around the house, the gardens are set up for the pleasure and relaxation of the guests, making the most of this remarkable setting and property.

When we head inside the villa, things continue to be breathtaking and exceptional. You can expect high ceilings, antique furnishings and original features, as well as a bright and modern kitchen, luxurious bathrooms, and elegant bedrooms that really embrace the historic property with tasteful vintage touches.

Villa Staggia, entry hall

Works of art, gilded mirrors, chandeliers, unique antique pieces of furniture, plush rugs, and lamps and sconces giving off warm and atmospheric light are all throughout the house, creating a welcoming and elegant environment in which to relax but with all of the mod-cons and comforts that you could ask for. Some particularly impressive rooms include the entrance hall with its heavy wood furniture and rich fabrics and the elegant dining room with its intricate details and careful touches.

Villa Staggia, kitchen

On the ground floor, one finds that airy and modern kitchen with a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, stove top, an Italian coffee machine and American coffee machine, a washing machine, and WIFI access, meaning you have pretty much all of the mod-cons you could need. There is also a direct exit out onto the terrace to make bringing meals outside even easier. Then there are the two living rooms, both comfortable and pretty spaces but one of which is larger and can accommodate up to seven guests seated comfortably at a time and the other which has a desk in case anyone needs to be able to sit down and work at some point during the trip.

Then there is that beautiful dining room, which seats all fourteen guests that may be staying at the villa. Finally, there is a ground floor bathroom with a shower and an en-suite bedroom with a king-size bed and air-conditioning.

Next, on the first floor, we have an additional little living room with air-conditioning and an exit out onto the balcony. There are four en-suite bedrooms, all of which have air-conditioning. Three of these have double beds but one room is more like the master bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathtub in the bathroom. Two more bedrooms are on this floor, both without en-suite bathrooms and with twin beds in each room. They do, however, both also have air-conditioning and there is another bathroom on this floor that can be readily used by the guests in these rooms. Additionally, there is another room with a desk and WIFI that can be used by anyone who needs some peace and quiet or to get some work done.

Up to six cars can park at the property and there are a range of optional extras that can be offered at a fee by the owners including extra beds, breakfast, cooking lessons, a private chef coming to prepare a meal in the villa for you, additional linens, and pre-arrival purchasing of groceries to stock up the fridge for you. Ease and comfort are really key to a vacation at the beautiful Villa Staggia.
