Standing tall over San Leolino is the well preserved tower of Galatrona that stands on a hill about 500 metres above the village. Tourists can climb up the tower and learn all about its interesting history between April and October on Saturdays and Sundays.
The tower marks the remains of what was once one of the most powerful castles in Arezzo province. It stands at 27 metres tall and is built using sandstone. This solid structure has six floors and was faithfully restored in recent years to be opened to the public.

Nearby to the tower is the well preserved parish church of Galatrona. Its skilfully designed tabernacle was carved by renowned sculptor, Giovanni della Robbia with the help of his son Marco. It’s also open between the months of April and October for visitors to walk around.
Back in the central area of Bucine, tourists are sure to enjoy a few hours of walking around its narrow paved streets and exploring its shops and stalls by foot.
Sit down and relax with a refreshing cup of Italian coffee in the afternoon and perhaps order a delicious local pasta dish with wine to savour al fresco in the sunshine. A visit to Bucine during your Tuscan holiday would be a truly enriching tourist experience!
