It was quite normal for the noble families of Tuscany to have their dinner party tables adorned with Montelupo crockery. The most famous pieces were those decorated with in vibrant blue and white colours, depicting scenes in wildlife or thrilling local legends!

This industry took root in Montelupo in the 13th century and some of its early productions were found as far away as Central America, the Philippines and Scotland! Montelupo was, located right along some of Italy’s busiest trading paths and so had the perfect opportunity to sell their craft far and wide.
