View of Follonica town
If you like nothing more than to enjoy your days lazing on the beach when holidaying then Tuscany has everything here waiting for you!

The gorgeous Tuscan coastline offers a huge range of Blue Flag beaches that guarantee a perfect seaside experience. All these beaches are close to amenities like water sport centres, towns, restaurants, cafes and accommodation.

The provinces of Lucca, Pisa, Livorno and Grosetto in Tuscany share the coastline and there are many luxury villas in Follonica and other superb towns like Livorno and Bibbiena for visitors to choose from.
Beach in Forte dei Marmi
The most northerly Tuscan beach is called Carrara beach which lies along the Apuan coastline. It’s nearby to marble caves where famous Renaissance sculptors like Michelangelo went to get the marble for his masterpiece ‘David’. This clean sandy beach offers exhilarating water sports like sailing and windsurfing.

A bit further down the coastline is the Blue Flag beach of Forte dei Marmi beside a town of the same name. A related article describes this interesting town in more detail but the beach itself is immaculately clean and offers stunning views from all directions.

Also on the coast nearby Lucca is a seaside town and Blue Flag beach called Pietrasanta. It is located in the Versilia district of Tuscany and offers a great range of water sports like surfing, sea kayaking and snorkelling. The town always seems to be hosting art, culture, music and cuisine festivals throughout the year so make sure you check out what’s going on if you decide to pass through here!

The next Blue Flag beach and town on the way southwards is called Camaiore. This beautiful sandy beach is the perfect spot to lie back and enjoy the sunshine and perhaps even a picnic! Behind the beach is the town of Camaiore which offers tourists a fine selection of souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes and accommodation if they wish to stay here for a day or two.

Finally, why not spend a day exploring the three Blue Flag beaches that lie along the Pisa coastline? They’re called Marina di Pisa, Tirrenia and Calambrone and are surrounded by plenty of amenities to ensure your seaside experience is a great one!

They are quieter than a lot of other beaches along Tuscany’s seafront and any of these three would make the perfect venue for some deep relaxation and enjoyment. Read through our related articles on Blue Flag beaches to learn about even more that are dotted further south along the Tuscan coastline!
