We've already discussed Lucca Comics generally before but as it is happening at the end of this month from the 30th of October to the 2nd of November, it seems a good idea to look at some of the highlights of this year's edition of the festival. Lucca Comics is Italy and Europe's biggest comic-book convention and the second biggest in the world and, therefore, attracts some exciting events, guests and performances. If you're passionate about gaming, comics, anime, television or movies, then be sure to stop by – just find a luxury villa in Lucca and you can spend a few days exploring the festival. Here are some of the best bits for the 2015 edition of Lucca Comics.
Dungeons and Dragons
One of the most intriguing performances that they have lined up for the festival is probably the concert being held by The Spleen Orchestra. Perfect considering that the festival runs through Hallowe'en, the act is comprised of a group of musicians with a passion for the vision of director Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman as showcased in the film, “The Nightmare before Christmas”.

Founded in 2009, the act has performed all over Italy at clubs, festivals, in theatres and at special events and they combine music, theatre and costume for a spectacular show.
Lucca
For table-top gamers, there is a giant game of Dungeons and Dragons which will take place over the course of four days and will involve dozens of teams made up of four to seven members apiece.

Entry costs five euro per person but all of this will go towards fantastic prizes for overall winners of the competition. This is the 9th year of the game and it is always a hugely popular event at the festival!

If you're interested in film and television, there are two very special events for fans.

In anticipation of the release of the latest film in the worldwide phenomenon of the Hunger Games movie franchise on the 19th of November, a series of special events will be taking place to get fans excited. There will also be a preview of the first episode of Season Nine of Doctor Who on the 30th of October at Cinema Astra at 18:30, for all those fans who just can't wait for the new season! On Saturday, in the Auditorium San Romano at 12:00, the head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat and writer Jamie Mathieson will hold a publin panel to discuss the new season.

So, if you're interested in comics, games or entertainment, Lucca is very much the corner of Tuscany to be in this October and November!
