This cosy little town in the heart of the Serchio Valley is home to the quaint parish church of St. Jacopo and its tower as well as some old medieval palaces, craft shops and tasty little eateries.
There’s a busy market held here in April and the unusual Festival of Norwegian Dried Cod is celebrated in the nearby hamlet of Anchiano!
Less than fifty kilometres away from Pisa is the exquisite town of Colonnata which is most famous for two of its exports; white marble and white lard! Visit some of the quarries here including Gioia Calagro and see how this precious stone is extracted from the earth.
