Our holiday at Il Palazzetto was lovely. The home is exactly like in the pictures, no unpleasant surprises: tidy and with a nice garden. The view from the garden is spectacular and the village of Castelnuovo offers some nice restaurants. The location is great, with a lot of mountains. However, it is quite far from the touristic areas: Lucca, Pisa, the beach, etc, are at least an hour drive away.

The place was clean and spacious and the owners made us very welcome, providing lots of local knowledge and even baking a cake for us, which helped with our bike riding trips! The outside terrace had wonderful views over the town and valley and was the perfect place to enjoy a late afternoon refreshment.

Eccellente Dettaglio della ValutazioneAn excellent property on the edge of town. It was possible to quickly walk into the town in the evening to visit the many local restaurants. The villa is well placed for visits to the local mountains, hill towns and Lucca. The kitchen was well stocked and the private garden had ample seating areas. The owner was very helpful with all the questions we had.

Eccellente Dettaglio della ValutazioneOur family of for had a very relaxing stay renting the whole house. The place was clean and everything functioned beautifully. Even though it rained everyday for a couple of hours, we still enjoyed the outdoor terrace and the terrific views of the area.
The house is up a hill about a ten minute walk to the center of the village. The Thursday market is the best time to go in because the streets are closed to traffic and people are everywhere.

We hadden een goed verblijf in "il Palazetto". De verhuurders zijn erg aardig. Ze zijn er als je ze nodig zou hebben en hebben ons laten proeven van producten uit eigen tuin. De inrichting van het huisje is eenvoudig maar goed. Met 5-6 personen is het goed toeven. (7 is ook wel mogelijk) De woonkamer/ keuken is niet zo groot, maar wij hebben vooral buiten geleefd onder en om de tentluifel. Het uitzicht vanuit de tuin is geweldig. Genieten van het zicht op de Appenijnen en de ondergaande zon achter het Fort aan de overkant. Carfagnana heeft een centrale functie in het dal en heeft daardoor goede voorzieningen. Vanaf het huisje is het 10-15 min. lopen naar winkels etc. In de omgeving zijn plaatsen als Lucca, Pisa en Pistoia goed te bereiken en de moeite waard. De Appenijnen en het Apuaanse gebergte biedt veel wandelmogelijkheden. POI's zijn: Grotto del Vento, Parco del Levigliese (klimmen, Canyoning, kanoën), Lago di Vagli (met verdronken dorp), Passo del Vestito (richting kustplaatsen en langs marmergroeven) etc. etc.

[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] We had a good stay in "Il Palazetto". The owners are very nice. They are there when you need them and let us a try their home grown vegetables. The interior of the cottage is simple but good. With 5-6 people is a nice place. (7, it also possible). The living room / kitchen is not big, but we have mostly lived outside under the tent. The view from the garden is great. Enjoying the view of the Apennines and the sun setting behind the Fortress across the street. Carfagnana has a central function in the valley and therefore has good facilities. From the house it is 10-15 mins walk to shops etc in the area are places like Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, easily reachable and worthwhile. The Apennines and the Apuan mountains offer many hiking possibilities. Eccellente Dettaglio della ValutazioneDie Ferienwohnung war absolut OK. Fur unsere Begriffe ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Einrichtungs war praktsich, wenn auch nicht ganz neu.
Die Gegend war für unseren Urlaubszweck "Wandern" gut geeignet. Es gibt eine gute Auswahl anspruchsvoller Wanderungen. Die Anfahrt dauert z.T. bis zu 50 Minuten.

Eccellente Dettaglio della ValutazioneWe enjoyed our stay at Il Palazzetto. The owner was gracious and helpful. The house was spotless and well equipped. The grounds were green and featured herbs and ripening figs. The only challenge was the approach road, it took real driving skill and the lowest gear to get up. We did loose a tire to a close encounter on the road.
